Bio: Sunny Morgan (she/her) is an R&B and Pop artist from Philadelphia, PA. Sunny realized her singing ability early on in life, performing at school and summer camp talent shows and singing in the comfort of home. Coming from a long line of performers (her paternal grandparents sang at clubs as a side hustle), the urge to pursue music was always there. After obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies and Journalism, she took a break from doing the news to explore her childhood passion in music. The result came her debut single, “That Feeling.” The moody R&B track amassed 200 streams on Spotify and Apple Music within the first week, showing big promise for the budding songstress.
Who are your top 5 influences? Too many to name! I grew up hearing Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera from my mom. I’d say them, along with Aaliyah. She’s my main inspiration, I love everything about the brand she built for herself in her short time on this Earth. I also obviously love her music, and hope it can be available soon for new generations to hear. In addition, I’d say Destiny’s Child, Kehlani and Mariah Carey to name a few.
When are your new projects coming out? Hopefully next year by the fall, I’ll have an EP out. Expect promo singles and covers along the way. I love Christmas music so I may surprise y’all and drop something earlier
What helped you get into music? My dad’s side of the family has a lot of people that can sing, so I can say hearing family members sing was the first thing. I love music, it’s very therapeutic for me, so I think seeing how other people resonate with the words and the feeling that’s supposed to be conveyed sounded so cool. I wanted to have my own way of telling the word the messages I want to convey. My friends were the main drivers in me making my own music. They encouraged me to write and listen to beats, so here we are.
What is one thing you would tell your fans? Omg, it’s crazy to think that I might have fans. But I would tell them to be patient and keep streaming “That Feeling!” Also thank you for being a fan, that’s crazy lol.
What are your biggest goals for 2021? To release a bunch of music! I want to hone my sound, find producers that can really work with me, and keep forming my cool ass team. I really want to drop a solid EP. I also want to start performing in Philly!
