Who are your top 5 influences? John Mayer, Ed Sheeran, The 1975, Mac Miller, Sam Fender
When are your new projects coming out? I have my debut EP planned for early 2021 which I am currently in the process of writing and recording, I’m so excited to be able to share not only my first real project but also a wonderful piece of work with a clear cohesive sound. They’ll definitely be surprises and there is a real maturity developing in my writing; lyrically, in terms of the topics I’m writing about and the influences that are helping to shape the project I do have some music ready to be released and a couple of collaboration projects that I’m excited to work on so there shouldn’t be too much a of a wait for new music.
What helped you get into music? I was a real late bloomer, I did sing when I was younger and knew that I could do it but for the early parts of my life, particularly my teens my insecurities played a very prominent part in how a lived my life, the music I listened to, the way a I saw myself; so much so I completely stopped singing. It wasn’t till I hit a real low in my life a few years ago that I really started to delve into who I was and who I really wanted to be. It was from there, that I pulled myself together picked up a guitar and the rest is history. Music is incredibly healing and I think that was what really made me fall in love with it, I’m incredibly grateful to be able to do what I do and It’s extra special when you realize your own music has the same effect on people.
What is one thing you would tell your fans? One of the best pieces of advice I have ever been given; James.. remember, true “mastery” is having ability to look at things you don’t want yet harnessing an even greater power towards that which you do! Particularly in the current climate, it’s so important to be able to shift your perspective, the power of focus is so important in terms how you can perceive a situation to be, it is why people continue to thrive regardless of circumstance. Finally… Trust that everything is always working out for you, love yourself wholeheartedly, believe in yourself and know you can achieve anything you set your mind to.
What are your biggest goals for 2021? Can we set goals right now? I have goals, it’s been interesting in terms of how things continue to change and we’re having to adapt accordingly. My biggest goal is obviously creating the EP, and all the associated visuals/promotion. That’s going to be massive part of the next 6 months of my life, and I have personal goals/targets in terms of the amount of people I would like to reach. Alongside that, it’s obviously shows, festivals and continuing to grow the following and focusing on my own personal growth in terms of what I want to be able to do on guitar, learning the art of production and continuing to improve as a songwriter.
