Top 5 influences? My top 5 influences are 50 cent, he was my favorite rapper growing up. He was the first rapper that I heard that I really admired his cadence, and delivery it was so mesmerizing to me. He inspired me to make songs of my own. Another major influence is Neo-soul, I loved how artist composed music in order to further their audience consciousness. It made me want to be one of the best at writing music. The miss education of Lauryn hill was a huge influence, I discovered that album late. It helped me get through community college and just changed my perspective on a lot of things. I knew of Lauryn hill before, because my dad listened to the fuguees but going back to really listen to her changed my life. She’s my favorite artist. Kanye was a big influence as well, he inspired me to get fresh in middle school even though I didn’t have much. I would just make the best out of what I had, and would still get some compliments. Last major influence is India.Arie song get it together, when I feel overwhelmed and really misunderstood and I listen it brings me peace of mind. The lyrics resonate Dee pwithin my soul.
When are your new projects coming out? I’m most likely dropping my next project truth be told in October. I have a lot on my plate, and just want to make the best project that will captivate listeners. Music is very important to me, as I believe it is to many others so want to give everything I make my all.
What helped you get into music? Being misunderstood to be honest, being born here but raised in Nigeria for a little it was hard for me to transition. I had to learn a whole new culture and adapt to a new language early. It was a lot of trials and tribulations I had to overcome, cause my mom had me early in her life. I barely saw her or my dad growing up and I had to watch over my little sister so couldn’t go out much, music helped raise me a little bit. We couldn’t afford cable when I was growing up, I enjoyed listening to music more than watching TV.
What is one thing you would tell your fans? Believe in yourself no matter what life throws at you, and protect your peace. You don’t have to be accessible to everyone it’s better to focus on your goals. Sometimes we allow people into our space, that don’t want the same thing out of life as us that can be very detrimental to personal growth.
What are your biggest goals for 2021? My biggest goal for 2021 is to reach a broader audience. Help save as many lives as possible. Perform more by God’s grace.
