Exclusive Interview
BIO My name is Evan Cazaubon, stage name Reksen. Currently 32 years old residing in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I was raised in Kenner, Louisiana came up your average middle American family with an older sister and older brother making me the youngest. Excelled at everything my parents ever put me in. I was a star athlete with an extreme case of ADD. I was always hyper wanting to be outside and highly into music. I remember as a kid my parents showing me this video of me dancing, stomping my left foot in the backyard at my sister’s 12th birthday party. As I got older I learned that I was rebellious and I also learned that I was a little different than everybody else. Not like in a bad way but something that I really didn’t understand. I used to switch groups of friends a lot they would just come and go nobody really stayed and as I got older I actually made some wrong moves went down the wrong road and landed in places I should have never been. I strongly battled addiction for 6 years and through that I wound up losing my dad to stage-4 throat cancer. It was a hard situation to take in but it was actually my first real burst of sobriety that I took very seriously. As time went on years past I had my ups and downs my slips and falls and through the grace of God I was actually able to start an exterior cleaning company. It’s been two and a half years now being a business owner and I couldn’t be more proud of myself. I have a fiance’ who has been with me actually since the start of my business we have two dogs a cat and live a very wholesome beautiful life. I couldn’t be more happier. Life has been good to me in the grand scheme of things so I’m extremely humbled and in complete gratitude for my journey.
Anything to tell your fans? First off I would definitely tell them thank you for even being a fan. But most importantly, I would tell them if and when you’re doing something out of passion, there will always be people along the way that don’t appreciate your work no matter what field you’re in. Just remember you’re doing it for you first and foremost because it fills that place deep down inside you.
Top 5 Influences? My top five influences I would have to say and no particular order well actually first and foremost it’s my (1)Dad. We had a very unique relationship but he would do anything for me in the world. (2)DJ AM. (3)Michael Medina (4)LSDREAM (5)Linkin Park
New Project I have had three official releases. Right now I’m working on a 4-track EP I’m pretty much done the second track and I’m going to make three or four more and then decide what’s going to make the cut. It’s going to be my first official EP that I hope to have done around October/November but before Thanksgiving.
What got you into music? So, around the time I was 10 to 11 years old my brother (being the oldest sibling) I used to go in his room and take his CDs, LOL. I would listen to ones that I thought sounded really cool that weren’t on the radio and it led me to playing drums for the next four years including being on the high school snare line. Definitely Big Ups to my brother for being a music head back in the day.
