Pan Amsterdam

Exclusive Interview

What inspires you the most when you create? We breathe in and out physically, but also spiritually. I don’t know about you but sometimes I feel like I’m suffocating spiritually. So sharing and giving helps me breathe. Creating is definitely a form of sharing and giving so therein’s the inspiration.

Who are your top 5 influences? 1. God  2. My Parents the other three always fluctuate.

When are your new projects coming out? You’ll be getting a three part series from me throughout the year called, “Elevator Music”. The first one is more Pan Amsterdam based and due out March 15. The second one is due out in July and will debut my other alias Yves Sane Leron. And the third will be a shorter more singer/songwriter crooner side of my work due out in the fall. There will be some more collabs and Pan Ams sprinkled around in between as well.

What helped you get into music? That’s easily another God and my Parents, answer. My parents played sooooooo much music around the house it was off the chain fun. They didn’t categorize what style what was. I didn’t know all the categories names and styles of anything until I went to school and had to learn all of that stuff through teachers and peers. Bittersweet experiences there. Glad I kept my core love for music’s sake. But it’s still important to almost have that love ripped out of you to make you strong willed and educated at the same time.

What is one thing you would tell your fans? That they matter. Sometimes I feel that we feel beat over the head as a people through some mysterious secret elite entity or entities. And so we aren’t really in control of our fate as an individual. I strongly disagree. I hear people say things like, “Nobody cares” or “Everybody’s dumb so who cares”. There’s a feeling of discourage and doubt masked by happy status updates and appropriate rallying under a “safe” cause so not to be alienated by a personal rant. Your rant matters, and the person that corrects you if you’re wrong, matters. The individual, matters.

What are your biggest goals for 2019? Probably to make sure I give the public the full extent of my artistic abilities and not have the, “Everybody’s dumb so half ass feed em and just make sure our PR is strong” mentality, never creeps in. To not treat my audience like dumb down idiots that I have to spoon feed for fear of them not “getting it”, thus less money in my pocket or whatever. To serve and serve well.
