Jay The Greater

Exclusive Interview

Bio: Jay The Greater hails from Brookings, South Dakota. Born Alex Hall, he always wanted to tell his own story through hip-hop, though his area isn’t known as a hotspot for the genre. The goal was always to show that it’s more about who you are instead of where you’re from. He’s been told his flow is reminiscent to that of B.I.G and his story telling very similar to Slug of Atmosphere.

Top 5 Influences? I would say my top five influences are Curren$y, Meek Mill, Nipsey Hussle, Freddie Gibbs and Scarface.

New Projects? All my projects are still in the works right now, but I’m getting incredibly close to finishing a new EP with my homie Gordelicious ( on Twitter and IG) called JAYNON G, which should hopefully be coming out in the next month or two. I have another joint mixtape with my homie Stony Vega from Seattle called Clean Player that’s still in process, and I’m currently working on writing and producing my next solo project, Twenty Three Summers.

Anything to tell your fans? One thing I would tell my fans is that nothing that’s worthwhile will come to you over night. The only reason I’ve been able to get as far as I have is just by being patient and really putting time and effort into what I create.

Biggest goals for 2017? One of my biggest goals for 2017 is definitely putting on more shows and doing more performances. Once JAYNON G gets finished I’m looking into either putting together a small tour or just doing a few release shows in different areas. Another goal of mine is to start making some waves in the Twin Cities, where I currently reside.
