Bio: Mr Metrónomo is an intergalactic supervillian who crash landed from space somewhere in the desert back in 2010. He has been partying in Los Angeles ever since. He has performed as a DJ, rock singer, and more recently solo rapper in venues all over the city. He released his first solo EP in 2013 and founded his record label, Men in Plaid, in 2015. He released his 6th project, a hip hop mixtape called Cheeze N’ Crackerz, on May 4th, 2017. Since the founding of MIP a handful of other rogues and villains have joined the team to collaborate on releases and spread their agenda of interstellar domination. Mr Metrónomo is already working on his next solo project, the yet announced sequel to his rock album from 2015, METRONOMICA.
Top 5 influences: Logic, Gorillaz, Notorious B.I.G., Queens of the Stone Age, Flying Lotus
New projects: We are working on two collaborative EPs right now which should be ready by early fall. One is all garage rock while the other is definitely a new age hip hop mixtape. We aren’t revealing a ton of details about these projects yet cause they tie into the next solo Metrónomo album. We haven’t announced the title of that one..yet 😉
What helped you get into music? I’ve been doing music my entire life. When I was a child I’d make my own instruments and put on shows for my family in the living room of our spaceship. In 2nd grade I started taking piano lessons and picked up the saxophone in 4th grade. In middle+high school I joined every band that would let me play and eventually formed my own rock band. Then I got marooned here and..well, you know the rest.
What is the one thing you would tell your fans? Never give up on yourself. Like Kubrick says: “No matter how vast the darkness, we must provide our own light”
What are your biggest goals for 2017? We’re gearing up to shoot 2 more music videos as the summer is ending. These will be much more high production than what we did for “Friendly Python”. One of our MIP artists, the multi-talented Sarah Rosenkrantz, is taking the lead on that front. Also we want to grow our influence and get more live shows in the books. We came here to party, and that’s what we’re going to do
