Bio: Deme Truest is a 25-year-old singer-songwriter from Chicago, IL. He has been singing since the age of seven when his father set up a small recording studio at his parents’ home using only a 1999 Mac and an external mic, hoping to make Deme Truest more comfortable behind the microphone. His mother furthered his interest in becoming a singer-songwriter when she bought him “The Guide to Songwriting”. He attended The Choir Academy of Chicago, a performing arts school where he would continue to develop his craft. This led him to Millikin University, where he holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from with an emphasis in Music, Dance, and Theatrical Light Design. Deme Truest’s sound is comparable to Frank Ocean, Usher, Maxwell, Deangelo, Musiq Soulchild, Ben Harper, Lianne La Havas. He is drawn to other fellow singer-songwriters (like Bibi Bourelly, PJ, Allen Stone) who tie in soul with a clear and strong perspective on life. What makes Deme Truest different is the way in which he ties his love for theatre into his music. Redirected, his first album, is set to release early 2017. Deme Truest is eager to show what he’s been working on, and opening up about his personal experiences in love, loss, and sexuality.
