Exclusive Interview
Give us your bio,Who are your top 5 influences,When are your new projects coming out? What helped you get into music? What is one thing you would tell your fans? What are your biggest goals for 2016?
Bio: I’m from Baltimore. Grew up in bmore city and the outskirts in the county. Just turned 25 at the end of August. I went to Howard University from 09-13 and graduated. Besides music I also write scripts and make films/music videos etc.
Top 5 influences: Nas, Bob Marley & The Wailers, Lupe Fiasco, Outcast, Nirvana
New Projects: No dates for anything new. I have written some verses for features that should be coming out soon and I’d love to do more collabs in general. Will be working on some new singles/sounds before I start working on a new project entirely.
What helped me getting into music: Almost feels like I never had a choice. I’ve always loved music. I’ve always loved reading and writing. I wrote my first poem in elementary school after 9/11. After that I started a poetry club in middle school and wrote my first rap sometime then. It was horrible, but I loved poetry, Rock, Hip-Hop and Reggae so I kept at it. Used to smoke and make dumb songs in the basement with my homies. Recorded my first actual song in 2009 and dropped my first mixtape in 2010 on Datpiff under the name Skywalker. Made most of that music in my dorm room freshmen year at Howard. It was rough but I felt like I was actually good at it and could get better so I kept writing. Even if I don’t make bread or get famous or blow up I’ll always write music and poetry because it’s just a good outlet for me.
Thing to tell fans: If you want a variety of styles of music and flows and beats then you have to support them. You can’t say you’re tired of new artist or even old artist if you don’t actually support the artist you fuck with. Also, the music industry is bullshit and people shouldn’t be so gullible to hop on what’s new and “hot”.
Biggest Goals for 2016: Do more collabs, work on new sounds and get beats so I can start work on my next project. I hope to release another project before the end of the year. I performed at SXSW this year and I plan on lining up some more performance in bmore and around the east coast or wherever muh-fuckers will have me. Also working on music videos and short films.
