                                                    EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW

Artist Bio – “Don’t hold on to a s**t reality.. Embrace the madness.. Embrace insanity!” These are words Cherry K lives by. Cherry K calls Warrington, UK home. He’s lived in the town his whole life. From the age of 9, he found hope in music, Performing Eminem covers to his peers after school. As the years progressed, the passion and love for music took over all aspects of his life. At the age of 17, Cherry K was diagnosed with BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder) which would change how he viewed the world. He quickly sunk into a deep depression, suffering six psychotic episodes and a stay at a psychiatric institution. It was from that moment on that he decided it was time to focus all his energy into creating music that would help him to discover who he was as a person, as an artist.. He created a vision for himself, a goal that would ultimately spread awareness of mental health and how a person could overcome their demons through musical therapy. —— Top 5 influences – My top 5 influences are a mixture of solo artists/groups. Eminem and The Game! 2 of my favourite rappers of all time, I’d bump their music all day, everyday! I’m real interested in Dope DOD. I gain a lot of inspiration from their style and lyrical content. King Mez and Onyx too man. 5 dope ass solo/group mixture! —— Projects – I’ve actually just dropped my second EP on soundcloud and YouTube. I wanted to create something that would allow people to gain a better understanding of who I am, and how the things that I’ve experienced in my life have affected me. It’s a dark project man. dark and deep. Plenty of flow switches, creepy melody lines and heavy baselines. You can check it out at You can also check out the music video to ‘It’s Alright (Not Really)’ on YouTube at —— Entrance to music – My nan actually pushed me into pursuing a music career believe it or not. It was around the time I got diagnosed with BPD. I was on a lot of medication at the time and couldn’t really get out of the house. There was a music therapy course on once a week, so I started attending it. I met a few really good friends there, and I learnt a lot from them. One in particular, Dj Excelor8 helped me to really dig within and learn new things about myself. Fast forward a bit of time.. I had been working heavily on my flow, really pouring all the energy I had into it. This was when I met my producer ‘Latch’. I booked a recording session down at Tuff Gong Studio’s in Warrington and we immediately clicked together. He took me under his wing if you will, developed me from an MC into an Artist. We’ve been working together since! —— Thing id tell my fans – If I had to give one piece of advice to the fans that I have, it would be.. Life is full of ups and downs. with that comes emotion. It’s not weak to express emotion, not in any way shape or form. It’s a healthy release and cleanses you’re mental well being. Don’t be afraid to let things out. You’ll cause more harm locking it away. —— Biggest goals for 2016 – I have a few goals to aim for in 2016. I think the most important for my own growth is finding the perfect sound. Me and Latch are hard at work on this at the moment. We are very close, I feel I can hear it. Now it’s all about putting it into production! Gigging is a must also for this year. I’m heavy in rehearsals right now, working on my stage presence is a MUST. In order to become a full package, you must work as hard as you can on each section of your craft! I’m also looking to network with other artists more.. If we stick together and support each other as artists, we cannot be brought down! Last but not least, I’m working on merchandise that people will associate the brand with. I’m working with some of my artistic friends to make that a reality! More on that as it comes though! But 2016 is an exciting year for me, for sure!
