Recently, our team was blessed to come across Hippie Tribe. One of the dopest duos we’ve heard all year blesses us with a fantastic new project. Go vibe with these incredibly creative young artists and show some love!
Give us your bio, Who are your top 5 influences? When are your new projects coming out? What helped you get into music? What is one thing you would tell your fans? What are your biggest goals for 2016?
“We are Hippie Tribe. Two hippie’s DP ThuHippie and The Blond.Bomber who met playing college football at Fordham University. We are hippies not only with our openness to drugs but just spreading positivity and removing the negative from the world. We’re looking to do rap differently not only with the music behind the words but with what we’re actually saying also. Most rappers these days aren’t saying anything of value on their songs and we want to be one of the bands that actually has substance behind what we’re saying and not just saying anything over a cool beat.
Wayne is the GOAT. Jimi Hendrix is the original druggie hippie boy. Mac and Tyler are huge influences for us because they do everything on their own from the beats to the rapping. And Lana Del Rey has such a unique voice and she went to Fordham for like half of a semester. All and all everyone here makes great music with their instrumentals while also not forgetting to put substance behind the lyrics.
We are releasing a 5 song EP on 4.20 called Thin Layers of Paradise and mixtape in June or July and our first album some time later this year. We plan on being featured on other upcoming artists projects and songs in the mean time also.
We both played instruments in our churches and I (blond.bomber) was brought up classically playing by ear. The rapping started last year with very late night freestyle sessions and those evolved into sending Rap Chats back and forth and then we decided to pursue it seriously once we realized we may have a gift of some sort.
We want to tell our fans that first off we love them from the bottom of our hearts. We can’t thank you all enough for the support because I know we’re a little weird and we love that you love our weirdness. Also let us know if we make bad music because theres enough bad music out there and if you don’t tell us we’ll keep making it and its a never ending cycle of ass-ness.
Our biggest goals for 2016 are first of all to get DP out of his cubicle and make music our full time jobs. But mainly just to get noticed and build our fanbase. We want to give people something different to listen to and pass our positive vibes around the country and the world. Also to get a co-sign from a major artist who sees our vision and believes in our vision. We’d love to perform at a festival of some sort but above all else we just want to spread our music to those who like good music and are about positivity.”
