He is also heavily influenced by such vocalists and instrumentalists as Kendrick Lamar, Erykah Badu, D’Angelo, Ahmad Jamal, and Robert Glasper. David D’Angelo was born on June 15th, 1994 in Miami, Florida to an American mother and Peruvian father. Music became a big focus of his life early on. His mother taught Piano and his fathers family played traditional Peruvian music. David started learning Piano and picked up Guitar and Bass along the way. As a teenager living in Durham, NC he began composing and arranging music on his Roland Juno G Workstation. It wasn’t long before he was introduced to Hip-Hop/Electronic music production through a friend who had experience working with FL Studio. Since moving to New Orleans, LA in 2013 to attend the Music Industry Studies program at Loyola University he has already weaved his way into the New Orleans Hip Hop and Funk scenes. He has shared the stage with such Artists/Producers as Iman Omari (production credits include Kendrick Lamar, Mac Miller, and Moruf ), LayerFace ( Paxico Records ), AF the Naysayer (Step Pepper Records), as well as local funk bands Cakewalk and Sexual Thunder, to name a few. Recently, David has been calling upon notable New Orleans horns players to play over his Beats in a live setting in order to combine Hip Hop/ R&B production with more flavorful Jazz & Funk instrumentation. David has already received a great response from these collaborations and will continue to work with other instrumentalists and vocalists for future performances as well as recording purposes.
