“Matt Smith is a new artist who comes through with some R&B vocals and dope lyrics. We love this flavor and are thoroughly enjoying his work”

Hailing from Hammond, La., 21 year old Matt Smith preps for his first official project, “The Book of Matt Smith”, with his first single “Hush” featuring his Nostalgic Music Group label-mate Ron.Brown. Born in North Carolina, Matthew Smith approaches the industry with a mature sound for his age and in this time where most R&B artists are mirroring rappers, Matt chooses to play the field. When asked about how he would describe his style, he replied by saying, “smooth but enticing, sometimes the music can be a bit aggressive but it’s just the portrayal of growing up. Conceptually, “The Book of Matt Smith” is speaking on encounters with certain women, evolving in different aspects of life and me reminding myself to be humble.” Growing up in a church but being apart of a different generation shaped many of Matt’s influences. From Musiq Soulchild, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles all the way to Boyz II Men, Jodeci & Erykah Badu. “My mom played a lot of neo-soul and R&B when I was growing up. Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, The Gap and Jodeci.” Honesty and progression is all through Matt Smith’s music, usually being seen as a feature, he finally gets to truly prove his talent. Matt’s singing abilities very well compliments his pianist skills, so be on the look out for his very own production on his soon to be released “The Book of Matt Smith”.
